When to visit Tivat: what each month from May to October has to offer
Tivat is a good destination throughout the summer season, but every period has its own character. This overview helps you choose the time that suits your holiday pace. Temperatures and conditions are approximate and vary from year to year.
May and early June: peace and greenery
Nature is in full bloom, the towns are quiet and prices are usually lower. The sea is still fresh, so swimming is more for the brave, but the days are pleasant for walks, climbing the walls of Kotor and trips to the mountains without the heat. Ideal for those who want quiet and photography.
June: the swimming season begins
As the days get warmer, the sea warms up and swimming becomes pleasant. The beaches are not yet full, and restaurants and konobas are running at full capacity. A good choice for families who want more affordable prices and fewer crowds before the main season.
July and August: the peak of the season
This is the time of the warmest sea, the longest days and the liveliest atmosphere: concerts, evening walks around the marina, open beaches. Expect the biggest crowds too, especially on the road towards Budva and in Kotor around midday. Tip: go to the beach and on trips early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
September: the sea is warmest, the crowds are smaller
For many guests, the most beautiful month. The sea has warmed up over the summer and the crowds thin out, so you can again enjoy calm swimming, walks and konobas without waiting. The evenings are pleasant for sitting on a terrace.
October: a quiet holiday
If you like a quiet atmosphere, walks and good food, October can be a surprise. Swimming is possible on warmer days, but the main reason to come is the peace, the autumn colours and places without crowds. Check the opening hours of restaurants and facilities, as some operate on a reduced schedule.
Our advice
