What to pack for a holiday in Tivat: a checklist for the whole family

Apartment terrace with a table and wine

Tivat is a place you do not need to equip yourself for specially: the sea is five minutes away, the shops are close and the apartments have a fully equipped kitchen and everything for daily life. Still, a few things will make your holiday more pleasant. Here is the list we recommend to our guests.

For the beach and the sea

  • Water shoes: many beaches around are pebbly or rocky, so rubber sandals are a real help, especially for children.
  • A hat, sunglasses and high-factor sunscreen: the sun is strong and shade is not available everywhere.
  • A beach towel and a light bag. You can usually rent loungers and parasols on organised beaches.
  • A reusable water bottle and something to snack on: wild coves often have no shop.
  • A mask and snorkel: the sea is clear in many places and the shallows are full of small fish.

For walks and trips

Comfortable trainers or sandals with a good sole are needed for the stone streets of the Old Town of Kotor and for climbing the walls. If you plan a trip to Lovćen, bring a light jacket or a long-sleeved sweatshirt too: it is much cooler up there than on the coast, even in midsummer.

For children

  • A change of clothes and spare swimwear: children get wet and dirty quickly.
  • A small bucket, spade and ball for the sand, if you do not want to buy them on the spot.
  • Sun creams and mosquito repellent suited to their skin; you can top up at a pharmacy in town.
  • We can provide a baby cot on request, so you do not have to bring one. Let us know when you send your inquiry.

Documents and small things

Do not forget your passport or ID card (depending on the country you come from) and your travel insurance policy. You need a standard European plug; bring an adapter if you come from a country with different sockets. Keep some cash for small purchases and taxis, although cards are widely accepted.

What you do not need to bring

The apartments have a fully equipped kitchen, so you do not need to bring dishes or cutlery. Ask us about towels and bed linen when you book, and buy groceries and the rest of the list in the nearby shops.
